The main objective is to transfer the know-how of species protection to Ukraine, using J. cyanoides as an example. Since other endangered Jurinea species grow in Ukraine, we will share practical know-how with our Ukrainian colleagues to help protect them - covering conservation planning, management implementation, impact evaluation, ex-situ conservation, and community involvement. Throughout the project, we will host international workshops in Czechia, Germany and Ukraine, alongside targeted internships for Ukrainian researchers, students, and conservation practitioners. These internships will be fully integrated into ongoing student theses, volunteer initiatives and citizen-science activities

Planning in species conservation

Aim: To share expertise on plant conservation planning and develop management plan frameworks through hands-on international workshops.

  • Organize two workshops in Czechia and Germany focused on preparing nature conservation documents, sharing rescue program strategies, and demonstrating Natura 2000 management approaches.
  • Develop a standardized management plan template during EU-based discussions tailored to species and habitat recovery needs.
  • Host a practical workshop in Ukraine where local participants apply the template to draft site-specific management plans for their own territories.
  • Limit workshop capacity to 10–15 participants per event to ensure an individualized approach and active discussion.

Practical implementation of conservation measures

Aim: To demonstrate hands-on site restoration, species reintroduction, and ex-situ conservation methods directly in the field for Ukrainian conservationists, state authorities, and landowners.

  • Organize at least 4 practical field workshops on project sites across Czechia and Germany.
  • Share technical expertise in habitat restoration, foreign plant material transfer, and ex-situ breeding techniques.

Involving the general public in species conservation

Aim: To train partners in public engagement methodologies, focusing on designing citizen science projects and expanding rescue planting programs in private gardens.

  • Provide online training on citizen science framework design, covering inquiry formulation, volunteer motivation strategies, and data evaluation techniques.
  • Involve partners in active monitoring of pollinators and invasive species to demonstrate practical data collection in the field.
  • Identify target flora for private garden rescue planting in Ukraine, leveraging local partners' botanical expertise.

Education in plant conservation

Aim: To design engaging educational programs and school patronage models using Jurinea as an example to inspire younger generations in nature conservation.

  • Host multi-day interactive workshops at ČSOP Vlašim and in Ukraine to try existing educational frameworks and create tailored programmes.
  • Develop flexible learning modules adapted to various age groups, covering fundamental plant conservation concepts and local biodiversity.
  • Establish school patronage frameworks to enable hands-on school participation in site management and species monitoring.
  • Limit workshop capacity to 10–15 participants to facilitate tailored coaching, active collaboration, and open discussion.
