Kersko
The Kersko Special Area of Conservation (SAC) hosts a diverse range of plant communities, including a wide variety of valuable habitats.
Threats to the Site
The greatest challenge is the current forest management. This business-oriented approach relies on large clear-cuts, followed by soil plowing and artificial reforestation with monodominant Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). Furthermore, the spread of expansive grasses, particularly wood small-reed (Calamagrostis epigejos), creates dense vegetation cover that actively suppresses the target species.
Site Management
The primary goal is to improve habitat conditions across the entire area by removing the shrub layer to create bright, open patches. On these cleared plots, grazing will be implemented twice a year, and bare, vegetation-free areas will be created manually. These prepared patches will serve as the core sites for the reintroduction of Jurinea cyanoides
