The Poliskyi Nature Reserve serves as a key conservation center for Jurinea cyanoides localities in Zhytomyr Polissya. The local populations require targeted protection, as natural self-restoration is currently insufficient to ensure long-term stability. Regular monitoring studies and scientific assessments are necessary to support the survival of the species within the reserve.

Threats to the Site

The main ecological threats facing the site stem from climate-induced drought and natural succession, as encroaching young trees and shrubs gradually displace the open sandy habitats required by the species.

Site Management

Planned project actions include genetic diversity evaluating, population dynamics monitoring, habitat quality assessing and tracking local pollinator activity tracking. Furthermore, citizen science campaigns will be launched alongside the development of a dedicated species management plan.
